I am sitting here looking out at our beautiful start to the month of May! Just think how green everything will be once the snow melts. I was already thinking that is was hard to believe it was already May, and now it seems even more incredible. But it's true! I have a lot of information to share, so I'll just get on with it.

Preview in the Park shows:
Our park shows are scheduled for Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 26 beginning at 6:00 pm at the Lions Park amphitheater (near the pool and community house). I have attached the schedule listing which classes dance on which day. Please check your availability and let your teachers know IN WRITING if you cannot attend. The park shows are meant to be a fun, relaxed event. Dancers wear classroom attire (no costumes) and can sit with family and friends until their turn to come up to the stage. The dances are usually still a little rough, but the teachers help. It is great practice for getting up in front of an audience with none of the added recital pressure. Encore Dancers parents serve ice cream! We cross our fingers for the weather and have only had to cancel once in six years.
Our annual summer showcase recital has split into two separate shows this year. You should know by now whether your dances are in the Circus or the Museum show, but if not just ask. The shows will be at the Cheyenne Civic Center on Saturday, August 3, 2013. There is an after party beginning at 5:00 pm at the Holliday Park Big Boy shelter. A non-refundable recital fee of $30 per family is now due. The recital fee helps to defray the cost of renting the Civic Center, and other recital related expenses. Each family will receive four tickets to the show of their choice and one full color program. Additional tickets and programs will be available for purchase.
Photo days are set for June 28, 29 and 30. A schedule will be ready by the end of this month.
Another reminder that hair for ballet class is to be in a bun. This does not have to be a recital perfect bun, but simply up off the neck and secured away from the face. Many girls arrive for class without even a pony tail holder. Ashley has put together some "bun kits" containing hair elastics, bobby pins, and a hairnet in a small plastic container. These are available at the desk for $3 each. You are asked to make sure that your daughter has whatever she need to secure her hair - even just some big barrettes. From now forward, any dancer who does not have their own hair supplies will be provided with one of our kits and your account will be charged $3. Please, please come prepared to dance - not just hair, but shoes, leotard, tights.
Our competition season has come to a close. Our dancers were very successful, earning invitations to national competitions. Two dancers, Ana Burleski and Kathy Riedl were given scholarships to Dance Educators of America ballet and musical theater intensives. Congratulations to all! Please support our dancers and enjoy a wonderful meal along with great entertainment this Saturday evening at the Encore Dancers dinner theater fiesta. Tickets are still available at the reception desk or from any competition dancer.
All of our classes continue at their scheduled time through June and July. In addition, we offer a fun summer opportunity to try something new. Our Summer Fun 2013 brochure is available at the reception desk. Pass one along to a friend!
Thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us! Happy dancing!
