Ballroom

Ballroom dance generally refers to a partnered dancing done to a wide variety of music. Ballroom dance has been around for hundreds of years as a style of dance, but underneath the umbrella term are dances both old and new. Ballroom dance is broken into categories such as: International Standard, International Latin, American Smooth, American Rhythm, Specialty, Social, and even Country-Western. Regardless of which direction the dance takes, partnered dancing requires a lead/follow relationship between two people which also involves respect, trust, and consideration for each other and anyone else who may be on the dance floor. Ballroom dance is built on principles of social grace and etiquette, encouraging camaraderie and kindness among all parties.
